Minaj, Carey and Keith Urban signed up to join Randy Jackson on the judging panel for the new season, though Carey was rumoured to be annoyed by Minaj's appointment and the duo were later seen arguing in leaked footage from filming.
Minaj has now tried to move on from the alleged feud by suggesting that the judges are getting on well.
"We've gelled really, really well as a group," she told People. "We have a great chemistry.
"We have a great rhythm now together, and we really are taking it serious... We really are rooting for the contestants and we want to find a great American Idol."
However, Carey seemed more reluctant to move on from the disagreement when reporters asked her what Minaj adds to the judging panel.
"You know, I wouldn't feel comfortable commenting on that," she said. "But thank you for the question."
Minaj has previously admitted that she is nervous about American Idol being broadcast as she is worried that she has been too honest with the contestants.
The show is due to premiere its new season on Wednesday, January 16 between 8 and 10pm, followed by a second hour-long episode on Thursday, January 17 at 8pm. It will air in the UK on 5*.
