Lil Wayne: 'I'm not watching Nicki Minaj on American Idol'

By
Lil Wayne has revealed that he has not been watching Nicki Minaj on American Idol.

Minaj was discovered by Lil Wayne and was signed to his Young Money Entertainment record label in 2009, with the two later collaborating on the hit 'Roman's Revenge (Remix)'.

The 'Starships' singer has since joined American Idol's judging panel, but Lil Wayne has admitted he was advised by his protégé not to tune into the Fox show.

"Actually, I've never watched it... When I talk to her she always tells me, 'You don't wanna watch that, you're not going to be into it'," Lil Wayne explained to The AP.

Lil Wayne went on to admit that he is not at all amused by Minaj's feud with her fellow American Idol judge Mariah Carey, which appeared to erupt at a North Carolina audition last fall.

"[Nicki] knows me... It's kind of like a catfight where they be going back and forth type of thing, I'm not into all that," he explained.

He added of American Idol: "The talent on that is pretty good I heard, though."

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest recently suggested that the upcoming live shows will be intense due to tension between Carey and Minaj.

Fox airs American Idol's Hollywood round on Wednesday and Thursday at 8/7c. The show is broadcast on Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm on 5* in the UK.
