Earlier this week, reports revealed that the singer had been approached by producers of the ABC reality show, who are currently making plans for the forthcoming ninth season.
Jackson has now confirmed that, while the rumours were true, she has no intention of taking part due to the ongoing investigation into the death of her brother Michael.
Speaking to Access Hollywood, she explained: "I've been approached to do Dancing With The Stars. The fact of the matter is, I won't be doing it, simply because of the circumstances that [are] going on at the moment."
The popstar continued: "I can't see myself putting myself into there right now, dancing every single day when I'm still trying to find out what exactly happened to my brother. That's the most important thing for me at this very moment."
However, Jackson promised that she will be watching the forthcoming series as Dancing is one of her "favourite shows".
Dancing With The Stars returns to ABC on September 22, featuring the programme's largest ever lineup and new twists.
