'Dancing' Week 1: Results show recap
Ashley Hamilton and Macy Gray have become the first two celebrities to be given the boot in the new season of Dancing With The Stars.

The first results show of the season opened with a replay of Kelly Osbourne and Louis van Amstel's Viennese Waltz, the dance that the judges voted their most unexpected so far, before hosts Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris revealed the results of the boys' vote.

Despite earning praise for his natural charm, Ashley and partner Edyta Sliwinska were given the axe after landing in the bottom two with former NFL star Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova. The judges had branded his performance as "rough" and "lacking showmanship".

Speaking after his elimination, Ashley said: "It's been a blast and I've had a great partner and a great experience. I'm so grateful to even get on the show, so thank you."

Edyta added: "I wish he could stay a little longer because we had a blast working together and he has a lot more to offer but that's the nature of the competition. I wish the best of luck to the people who stayed in because I'm really confident that they are going to be surprisingly entertaining."

Next up was the result of the girls' vote, which saw Macy and Jonathan Roberts leave the competition after being voted in the bottom two with Kathy Ireland and Tony Dovolani. She had received praise for her "vulnerability" and "charm" but failed to impress with her technique and footwork.

"It's been cool. I learned a little bit about dancing. Ballroom isn't my calling exactly but I learned a little bit and we had a good time," she said.

Jonathan, who spent a month on a tour bus with Macy preparing for the show, added: "I like seeing the transformation of how she has grown into a ballroom dancer and I'm so proud of her."

The star-studded audience, which included George Hamilton and Courteney Cox, were also treated to a performance of 'Circle Of Life' by the cast of The Lion King, the premiere of Miley Cyrus's new video for 'Party In The USA' and a performance by Sean Kingston.

The professional dancers also staged a musical tribute to the late Patrick Swayze, who passed away last week, performing routines from some of his most memorable films, including Dirty Dancing.

Next week's episode will see the male and female contestants going head-to-head for the first time, performing either the jive, quickstep or tango. It will also feature Baz Luhrmann as a guest judge.

Dancing With The Stars continues next Monday at 8/7c on ABC.
