The dancer, who is partnered with model Joanna Krupa, was ruled out of last night's performance after developing the flu.
Speaking to OK, he said: "I think it was just that on Wednesday night, we had a 15-hour day.
"I had five rehearsals that day, starting at 8am and I didn't get home until one in the morning. It was crazy and I woke up in the morning and I was drenched [in sweat].
"My body's still not there. I definitely want to be back next week if she makes it to next week. We'll be doing the waltz which I've been looking forward to."
He added that it was "odd, strange, uncomfortable and different" watching Krupa perform the Argentine tango with replacement partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, but admitted that the pair "did a great job together".
