'Dancing With The Stars' winner crowned

Nicole Scherzinger has been crowned the winner of the tenth season of Dancing With The Stars.

The Pussycat Dolls star and professional partner Derek Hough scooped the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy in tonight's live finale of the ABC competition.

Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya were named in second place, while Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy rounded out the top three.

The evening had opened with all three couples performing an Argentine Tango which was then ranked by the panel. Nicole and Derek secured first spot and 30 points, while Evan and Anna landed in second place with 28 points, and Erin and Maksim took third place with 26 points.

ESPN telecaster Erin then became the first celebrity of the night to be eliminated, leaving Nicole and Evan to battle it out with another dance.

Nicole and Derek later earned a perfect 30 for their cha cha, prompting Len to say that Nicole deserved to win, while Bruno added that this had been the "best season" yet and Carrie Ann said that she always looked forward to watching them.

Evan and Anna had scored 28 for their routine. Carrie Ann said that Nicole might be winning in the scoring but he had won everybody’s hearts and she saw a "true champion" in him. Len added that he had been a joy to watch.

Tonight's instalment also featured performances from ex-contestants including Kate Gosselin, Buzz Aldrin and Pamela Anderson, while Bachelor star Jake Pavelka and fiancée Vienna Girardi performed the waltz.

Dancing With The Stars airs on ABC.
