The NFL Player was announced as the show's winner last night, and admitted that he is just as proud of winning Dancing with the Stars as he is of being named MVP at the sporting extravaganza back in 2006.
"It's comparable," Ward told Jimmy Kimmel during a live appearance on his talkshow. "Because I've never danced before, so for me to walk away with this trophy, it's an amazing feat."
Ward credited his dance partner Kym Johnson as the reason he was able to win, and said that the two have developed a life-long friendship.
"It takes a whole team to win the Super Bowl," Ward explained. "But in this dancing competition I owe everything to Kym. She's an amazing teacher."
Ward also revealed that although his Pittsburgh Steelers teammates initially teased him about his dancing, they soon came around and began to support him.
"I got no positive encouragement from my teammates but then as they came through the show and saw me dance over the season they told me not to come back without that mirrorball trophy!" he added.
Dancing with the Stars will return on ABC for a brand new season on September 19.
