'DWTS' Derek Hough: 'Ricki Lake must stop Kirstie Alley comparisons'

Derek Hough has told his Dancing with the Stars celebrity partner Ricki Lake to stop comparing herself to Kirstie Alley.

The professional dancer revealed that Lake, who has repeatedly said that she is "hoping to pull a Kirstie Alley", needs to focus on herself if she hopes to do well on the ABC series.

"I told her, 'No more'," Hough told People. "I said, 'This is about you. This is now time'."

Meanwhile, Lake acknowledged that Hough is right to tell her to inspire herself instead of concentrating on others.

"I'm me, I know, I know," Lake said of Hough's remarks. "That's probably good advice. I really love working with Derek. He's such a good teacher, and I'm learning so much."

She continued: "He encourages me. I feel like I'm learning that way. He's really intuitive with me."

Lake recently said that she is losing weight from her work on Dancing with the Stars.

Earlier this week, she described the weight loss as different from previous experiences because it is down to exercise rather than restricting her calorie intake.

Dancing with the Stars continues tonight at 8/7c on ABC.
