The Italian presenter and professional partner Val Chmerkovskiy became the second couple to be eliminated from the ABC dance competition on Tuesday night despite scoring 21 out of a possible 30 points for their quickstep.
When asked on Jimmy Kimmel Live if she had remembered to vote for herself, Canalis laughed: "Okay, yesterday I didn't! I thought I was safe because we had seven, seven and seven [points].
"You want to know the truth? I was at a restaurant and my phone didn't have battery so I couldn't call. My friends were calling but I guess that wasn't enough!"
Kimmel responded: "I guess it wasn't enough because you didn't support yourself. You really have to do that. I bet Nancy Grace voted for herself."
Canalis then joked: "Okay, it's my fault because I didn't vote 12 times!"
Kimmel also quizzed Canalis and Chmerkovskiy on whether they didn't get along during rehearsals, prompting Canalis to laugh: "That's not true at all! Of course we had a little fight and they showed it!"
Chmerkovskiy added: "We kept it real from the beginning and I think it's part of the process. The arguments, the laughter - there was laughter that they didn't show. Anybody who is smiling on camera and peachy is lying.
"I'm not a great actor, this is my first season, and I didn't really know how to behave. I just behaved naturally the way I was used to teaching and I was respectful. We got along very well. She is amazing."
Canalis added: "It's not easy to teach me how to dance, trust me!"
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays and Tuesdays on ABC.
