The writer and activist will take to the dancefloor with professional partner Lacey Schwimmer for a paso doble on this evening's movie-themed instalment of Dancing with the Stars on ABC.
Bono told People that his famous mother had chosen not to attend the show earlier in the competition because she didn't want to distract attention away from him, but is planning to be in the audience tonight.
He added that his stepmother Mary Bono Mack and other relatives will also be cheering him on, saying: "It's very exciting... It will be a real family affair."

In a separate interview with ETOnline during rehearsals, Bono and professional dancer Schwimmer were asked if they thought having Cher in the audience would increase the number of votes they received.
Schwimmer joked to Bono: "People will stare at [Cher] and not really at [Chaz] which could be a good thing! Hopefully the judges don't look at you, 'Oh, Cher, you look great! 10s!'"
Bono replied: "Thanks for the vote of confidence!"
The pair performed the rumba on last week's episode of Dancing with the Stars, which saw the celebrities using the most memorable year of their lives for inspiration on the dancefloor.
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays and Tuesdays on ABC
