The Wilson Phillips singer was eliminated from the ABC talent show on Tuesday along with partner Tony Dovolani after the pair garnered the lowest combined score of judges and viewer votes.
Talking to The Huffington Post, Phillips expressed her disappointment with the Dancing with the Stars elimination process, admitting that she feels that the spirit of the show has been "undermined".
"It really does come down to the votes. And that's kind of sad because it's supposed to be a dance competition, but it's actually a popularity contest, which makes me kind of sad," she explained.
"You know, you have to have a little bit of faith that there are people out there who are truly voting for their favourite dance, not their favourite person, because it is a dance competition and people are working really hard. It would be very sad if that was undermined, and it looks to me like that keeps getting undermined."
Phillips revealed on Tuesday night's Jimmy Kimmel Live that she plans to keep up the workout regime that she developed for rehearsals on the show.
