Host Tom Bergeron confirmed during tonight's broadcast on ABC (April 9) that Gilbert had been taken away for treatment, after she banged her head on the dancefloor during a paso doble routine with professional dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
"She injured herself and as a precaution she's gone to the hospital to get checked out," Bergeron confirmed towards the end of the programme.
Karina Smirnoff told reporters after the show came off the air that Gilbert complained she was feeling light-headed following the incident, adding that Gavin DeGraw had escorted her from the 'sky box' studio set above the dancefloor.
Gilbert was taken from the set by ambulance about 20 minutes before the end of the broadcast, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with Chmerkovskiy following afterwards.
No further details about Gilbert's condition are currently available, with ABC confirming that an update will be provided during tomorrow's episode.
