The former Bachelor star will make his ballroom debut on Monday's season premiere, when he will be paired with professional Peta Murgatroyd.
Lowe has chatted about Dancing with the Stars with Entertainment Tonight, and acknowledged that he was unprepared for the physical demands of the show.
"This is so much more difficult than I thought it would be," the reality star complained.
He went on to admit that he even had second thoughts about joining the Dancing with the Stars cast after his first rehearsal.
"The very first day I thought, 'There's no way I'm ever going to get this; I'm going to make a fool of myself on TV'," he admitted.
His partner Murgatroyd has said that Lowe made tremendous progress in subsequent rehearsals, even predicting that he could win Dancing with the Stars.
"He has already got some pretty good moves down," Murgatroyd said. "I definitely think Sean's going to make it far."
Lowe revealed earlier in the week that his new fiancée Catherine Giudici fully supports his bid to win the Mirrorball Trophy.
Dancing with the Stars premieres on Monday, March 18 on ABC.
