My Name Is Earl: Season 1 on DVD
Hospitalised with his injuries, Earl has time to ponder on life. He starts to wonder if Karma is getting revenge on him as he watches a celebrity on television who is convinced that his success and good fortune is a direct result of doing good things for other people. In that moment, Earl resolves to make amends for all the wrongs in his past, and, in hope of a better life, he sets out to correct every bad thing he has ever done in order to rebalance his karma. With his brother Randy (Suplee) and his motel maid Catalina (Velazquez), Earl makes a list of every misdeed he was a part of to guide him on his way… and to make sure he doesn’t forgot any of them (there are a few!). Earl begins to revisit his past, starting with number 64 on the list, a boy called Kenny James who he picked on in school…
Along the way, meet the colourful Joy (Pressly), Earl’s trailer trash ex-wife who, with her thoughtless speech and crass mouth, is a constant reminder to Earl of why he needs to make amends in life. With Randy, Catalina, Joy and Darnell (Eddie Griffin, People Are Dead), Joy’s new husband and proud owner of the CrabShack, in tow, Earl can make up for his wrongs against his brother and friends, and use their help in redressing his other mistakes.
Featuring the complete episode run for Season 1, My Name Is Earl 1 on DVD plays host to an array of special features plus a brilliant extended alternate reality lost pilot, ‘Bad Karma’. In this we see what would have happened if Earl hadn’t decided to make amends, but instead went out for revenge for wrongs done against him! As well as the DVD exclusive ‘Bad Karma’, additional special features include a ‘Karma Is A Funny Thing’ blooper reel, deleted scenes, a behind the scenes featurette ‘Making Things Right’ and audio commentaries.
