Austin Drage has been eliminated from The X Factor tonight after competing against Rachel Hylton in the final showdown.
The 22-year-old singer had performed Rose Royce's 'Wishing On A Star' in a Disco-themed episode of the ITV1 talent show, while Hylton had sang Sister Sledge's 'Lost In Music'.
After the results of the viewer vote were announced, both acts were asked to fight for their places in the competition by performing songs of their choice. Hylton sang Mary J. Blige's 'No More Drama' before Drage took to the stage to perform The Shirelles's hit 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow', dedicating the performance to his mother.
Hylton was then saved for another week after being backed by her mentor Dannii Minogue as well as Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh. Meanwhile, Simon Cowell provided a sole vote in Drage's favour.
Speaking afterwards, Drage insisted: "I'm really well because I know everyone ain't seen the best of me yet and I got the opportunity to sing to my mum tonight."
Cowell, who mentored Austin, added: "For me he was one of the best singers tonight so he can go out with his head held high."
The music mogul now has just one act, 16-year-old Eoghan Quigg, remaining in the competition.
