Louis Walsh has admitted that he does not know if he has a long-term future with The X Factor.
The Irish judge revealed that he does not take his position on the show for granted - as show chief Simon Cowell could decide to make further changes to the panel next year.
Speaking to The Mirror, he claimed: "I could be gone next year. Honestly, I don't know."
Walsh was sacked by Cowell in March 2007 and replaced by Brian Friedman. However, he was later asked to return after Simon realised that the panel lacked "chemistry" without him.
The X Factor returns to ITV1 tonight at 7.30pm. The episode features the first appearance of newcomer Cheryl Cole, who was snapped up as a replacement for Sharon Osbourne in June.
