'X Factor' hopeful gets Leona's backing

Leona Lewis has offered her blessing to childhood friend Duane Lamonte as he bids to match her success on The X Factor, according to a report.

As revealed yesterday, 23-year-old Lamonte tells the judges that he is "very close" to Leona's family when he auditions for the show in tonight's episode.

A source told The Mirror: "She's delighted for him and said it was a great idea to go on the show. She's keeping her fingers crossed for him."

Lewis has gained international recognition with her debut album Spirit since winning the ITV1 talent series in 2006.

The insider added: "[Duane's] been following Leona's career really closely and would be over the moon if he could achieve only a fraction of her success."

The X Factor airs at 7.30pm tonight on ITV1.
