'X Factor's Daniel backs axed Scott

Daniel Evans has predicted that his X Factor co-star Scott Bruton will have a bright future following his elimination from the programme.

Bruton was voted off the ITV1 talent show last night after competing against Evans in the sing-off. While the 19-year-old was criticised by the judges for "going through the motions" in his final performance, Evans was praised for singing with "passion" after dedicating Josh Groban's 'To Where You Are' to his late wife.

Speaking about Bruton on The Xtra Factor, Evans insisted: "He's young, he's got time, he's just going to get better and better. He's got so much talent. I can't believe it - I'm just so grateful."

Later, Evans admitted that he was particularly surprised to be backed by Louis Walsh, who had previously likened him to an "end of the pier" act.

He said: "I can't believe Louis. I've got to have a word with Louis, what's he doing to me? Giving me a heart attack!"

The X Factor continues next Saturday at 7.30pm on ITV1.
