X Factor star Scott Bruton has vowed that he will not give up on his singing dream after being eliminated from the programme.

The former Bluecoat became the third act to be voted off the ITV1 talent show last night after competing against Daniel Evans in the sing-off.

"These things happen. It could have been anybody tonight and it just happened to be me," Bruton explained on spinoff show The Xtra Factor. "Like I said in my first audition, it was the start of something great for me and I'm still keeping that attitude."

He added: "I didn't enter this for anything more than a career really. I really wanted to make a career out of The X Factor and I just hope I can go and do it."

Meanwhile, Bruton's mentor Simon Cowell insisted that he wasn't annoyed with Louis Walsh for voting out his act rather than taking the result to Deadlock.

"We've done it two weeks in a row," Cowell said. "To be fair to Daniel, it was a very emotional song and he sang it well.

"I said to Scott, when you're on a night like this - it wasn't like anyone was terrible. It's just one of those things. On this show, you get your highs, you get your lows. He's got to pick himself up and say that a lot of people have had the chance to see him perform. You've got to make the most of this opportunity."
