Cheryl Cole has promised that Diana Vickers will bounce back on The X Factor next weekend after she faced an uncertain future on last night's show.
Simon Cowell claimed that he was worried for the 17-year-old after she sang Coldplay's 'Yellow', describing it as her first poor performance in the competition. However, she escaped the final showdown after being backed in the viewer vote.
Vickers had been given a free pass to last night's round after laryngitis left her unable to perform last weekend.
Speaking on The Xtra Factor, her mentor Cole admitted: "I know she found it tough tonight. I'm going to make sure she is back in full swing. And she'll be better. She'll be able to routine tomorrow now and she'll be better health-wise and stuff.
"Me and Dannii [Minogue] were saying before, even if it's Madonna, if you have something like laryngitis and you're on tour, you have to cancel that night or you have to mime or do something. It happens to the biggest of artists so I'm glad people at home recognised that and kept her in, because she's amazing."
Later, Vickers revealed that she was surprised to stay in the competition after receiving her first negative comments from the judges.
She said: "I can't believe that. I'm so grateful but I just think this is so hard every week for everyone. I'm just going to forget about this bad week. I've had a bad week and I'm just going to come back next week and really give it my all."
