'X Factor's Aston: 'I let JLS down'

X Factor star Aston Merrygold has admitted that he feels responsible for JLS's setback on the programme last night.

The boyband found themselves in the bottom two for the first time after the 20-year-old singer provided lead vocals for their performance of Take That's 'A Million Love Songs'. They were eventually saved by the judges, who opted to send home mother-of-five Rachel Hylton.

"I think it's a bit worse because I was doing all the verses and the boys came in on the chorus," Merrygold told Xtra Factor host Holly Willoughby. "I just felt like I let them down."

However, his bandmate Marvin Humes insisted: "Aston did an amazing job. Ever since disco week when he's been doing the most leads, he's [been] consistent every single week. I don't think it's anything to do with Aston at all."

Meanwhile, Oritse Williams confirmed that the group would not give up on their dream of winning the ITV1 talent show.

"Obviously this competition means the world to us," he explained. "It really could change our lives. We want to change our lives, our families' lives and hopefully become the new boyband of the UK."
