Louis Walsh has claimed that the public got it wrong by voting Leon Jackson as last year's X Factor winner ahead of Rhydian Roberts.
The show judge qualified his opinion by saying that Roberts now has a stronger career than Jackson, who received more votes in the 2007 final.
"Rhydian should probably have won," he told Richard Bacon on BBC Radio 5 Live.
"Rhydian is selling a lot more records. Rhydian is more of an artist. Sometimes the people get it wrong."
Walsh said Jackson had ample opportunity to enjoy an equally successful career, saying: "He's had a chance. The people voted for him and he won last year."
