JLS: We would love 'X Factor' return

JLS have said that they are keeping their fingers crossed for a chance to return to The X Factor later this year.

The boyband, who lost out to Alexandra Burke in last year's final, claimed that they would jump at the chance to perform one of their own tracks on the 2009 series.

"I think we're in the right place for it right now, sat in Sony BMG with Simon Cowell's office just above us," Marvin Humes told DS.

"Obviously we would love to go back on X Factor. That was where people first saw us and heard about us. We'd love it and it would be amazing, but we're not guaranteed that, so we'll just see how it goes."

Ortisé Williams added: "Maybe we should ask all the X Factor fans whether JLS should go back on the show. We could have a vote? Yes or no?"

Aston Merrygold also said that the four-piece wouldn't rule out working with their fellow X Factor stars Alexandra Burke and Ruth Lorenzo in the future.

"Everyone right now is trying to establish themselves, but in the future it might happen," he said. "You never know!

"But we need to express ourselves right now and get our own platform in the industry. Make our stamp on music right now. But you never know, we could do another Mariah Carey/Westlife thing or Mariah Carey/Boyzone things in the future. Just watch this space."

JLS release their debut solo single 'Beat Again' on July 13.
