Teenage 'X Factor' fan injured at audition

An enthusiastic X Factor fan has reportedly been taken to hospital after injuring himself at the Birmingham auditions.

The 16-year-old boy is understood to have dislocated his knee after his leg hit the armrest of a seat while he was cheering on a contestant.

Producers were forced to halt auditions for over an hour after paramedics were called and the teenager, accompanied by his mother, was taken to a nearby hospital.

Speaking to The Sun, a programme spokesperson said: "Their safety is our number one priority and we wish the boy a speedy recovery."

A show insider added: "He seemed more upset about missing the rest of the auditions."

More than 2,000 people are reported to have turned out to watch the process at the NEC on Monday after it was announced that this year's auditions would feature live audiences.
