Sinitta: 'Minogue was misinterpreted'

Sinitta has defended Dannii Minogue against criticism of her controversial sexuality remark on The X Factor.

In an interview with Live From Studio Five, Simon Cowell's sidekick claimed that angry viewers misinterpreted Minogue's comment towards contestant Danyl Johnson.

The Australian singer sparked outrage on Saturday night by questioning Johnson's decision to sing about a woman rather than a man when he performed 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going'.

Referring to his bisexuality, Minogue said: "If we're to believe everything we read in the papers, there was no need to change the gender references."

Asked about the row, Sinitta commented: "You know what, she apologised. We've all known Dannii for years and she's got a massive gay following. It's a total misinterpretation."

She added: "[Dannii] came on to the show on Sunday and set the record straight. Cut Dannii some slack."

Coronation Street actor Antony Cotton recently praised Minogue for making "a very pro-gay comment" on the show.
