Chipmunk blasts 'X Factor' John & Edward

Chipmunk has admitted that it "hurts" watching John & Edward try to sing on The X Factor.

The 'Oopsy Daisy' star claimed that it will damage the reputation of the British music scene if the twins win the ITV show.

"They're entertainers, not musicians," he told The Sun.

"Me and Tinchy [Stryder] were talking about it - it's hurtful that if they were to release a single now it's gonna go No.1.

"If you're from another country and you come to England and you're randomly flicking through the channels and you see them on X Factor, I don't know how seriously you'd take the UK music scene."

He added: "It's very comic, and I don't think that's fair. People vote because they want a laugh. And I watch because I want to see what they do, but that's what's representing our country right now. It hurts, man.

"The Christmas No. 1 every year is the X Factor cover, we've got over that. But come on, man, don't let it be John & Edward."

Chipmunk went on to back Welsh singer Lucie Jones in the competition, but insisted that no contestants match the vocal ability of former winner Leona Lewis.

"She's the standout for me. I like her, she seems so innocent. Very pretty girl, man. But I don't think a girl is gonna win again and I don't think any of them are like Leona," he said.
