Lucie Jones: 'Cowell didn't get me'

ITV

X Factor's Lucie Jones has said that Simon Cowell did not understand her as an artist.

However, the Welsh singer, who dramatically exited the ITV1 show on Sunday night, said that she does not blame him for not voting to save her place in the competition.

"If he wanted me to stay, he would have saved me. I don't think it really mattered to him, because he said, 'I don't think either of you can win'. So he put to the public, which is fine, whatever. That's cool," she told DS.

During the early rounds, Cowell criticised Jones for performing like an "actress" and coming across "a bit karaoke". However, after Saturday's performance of 'This Is Me', he branded her "the strongest girl in the competition".

When asked whether she valued his opinion over the other three judges, she said: "Absolutely not. It's just gutting to get up on stage after working really hard all week, throwing yourself into a performance, only to be torn down for it. It's just a bit annoying really.

"I just wanted him to get it. Even right at the end, I don't think he got me."
